"Bugger blueboard!"
In case you or your builder's ever been on site muttering “bugger blueboard” we’re about to reveal a new way to get a textured broadwall up – fast. Instead of mucking around with taping, setting and specialist texture-coaters, you can now use a product that promises more wall for less sweat. New EasyLap™ panel is the most easily installed and cost-effective, textured broadwall cladding solution.
Only two trades (a carpenter and painter) are needed for the complete, fast installation. Its vertical shiplap joint eliminates the need for a vertical set and control joint and it’s simply finished on site with a roll-on textured acrylic paint, eliminating the need for specialised applicators. Added to this, the large sheets with off-the-shelf corner finishing details give fast broadwall coverage.
Craig Riddle from award-winning Living Green Designer Homes says “I absolutely loved the look (of EasyLap™ panel) and the ease of use.”

The Smarter Small Home is hot with viewers
Channel 9’s ACA story went to air nationally on Friday 27th March at 6.50pm. By 7pm smartersmallhome.com.au was inundated with enquiries. Four days later and over 7,500 people have visited the site.
Everyone it seems wants a Smarter Small Home and it’s easy to see why. Here are just a few of the clever features:
- Low embodied energy materials help keep the home's carbon footprint and costs low
- The decking is made from recycled plastic bottles
- Lightweight Scyon™ cladding has been used on the walls inside the house, to save on plastering and tiling
- The new generation ceiling is an all in one product, that can be installed in a day
- The dining room is back to the future with a good old eat-in kitchen
- An all in one switch turns all your stand-by appliances on and off - right from the front door
The
really smart thing though is that this home is not just smart, stylish and sustainable, it's also
very affordable. The Smarter Small Home is open for public tours from April 18 and you can book your tour online
here.

Mackay's coolest house
North Queensland-based builders River City Homes was presented with a challenge when designing a home for the retired Chairman of Mackay-based Porters, a large hardware and building supplies group. The Porters wanted a home that looked better than a rendered concrete block house and one that didn't need 24/7 air-conditioning in summer. When River City Homes explained the benefits of Scyon™ products, the Porters didn't need much convincing. Now they've got their dream energy-efficient home – and it looks cool too. Wet area wars
Creating your dream bathroom can cost a fortune. If you don't check what your expensive taps and tiles are built on, you could flush your bathroom budget down the toilet.

Wet area wars
Building experts agree that one of the most common defects they're called on to fix is water leakage through showers. If a bathroom is on a second or upper floor, moisture damage can spread to downstairs rooms. This can be very unpleasant and expensive to fix. The key to avoiding this is a combination of the right materials and correct installation.
With the introduction of Secura™ wet area flooring, there's now a simple way to help protect against moisture damage in wet areas. Made from Scyon™ - an advanced lightweight cement composite with heavy-duty performance - Secura™ wet area flooring not only removes the need for full waterproofing outside enclosed shower areas, but even if it does get wet, it won't deform, or lose its structural integrity.
